Nach mehreren Tagen des Wartens ist es nun offiziell: Die Bemühungen, Fortnite zurück auf iOS zu bringen, sind gescheitert.
Apple hat das Spiel sowohl aus dem US-amerikanischen App Store als auch aus dem Epic Games Store in der EU ausgeschlossen.
Am 1. Mai keimte noch Hoffnung auf, als Epic-CEO Tim Sweeney ankündigte: „Nächste Woche kehrt Fortnite in den US-iOS-App-Store zurück.“ Viele warteten gespannt auf das Comeback von Fortnite Mobile – doch die Rückkehr blieb aus.
Apple unterzog das Spiel einer umfangreichen Überprüfung, und nun steht das Ergebnis fest. Am 16. Mai veröffentlichte der offizielle Fortnite-X-Account eine Erklärung zur aktuellen Situation im Streit zwischen Epic Games und Apple.
Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission so we cannot release to the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS will be offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it.

„Apple hat unsere Fortnite-Einreichung blockiert, daher können wir das Spiel weder im US-App-Store noch im Epic Games Store für iOS in der EU veröffentlichen. Leider ist Fortnite auf iOS weltweit offline, bis Apple die Blockade aufhebt“, heißt es in dem Statement.
Auch wenn es zahlreiche Möglichkeiten gibt, Fortnite auf anderen Plattformen zu spielen und zu bezahlen – auf iOS wird das Spiel vorerst nicht verfügbar sein.
